In terms of technical skills for the Managing Editor role, you ideally bring: A strong managerial toolkit, understanding how to best lead your team members to unlock the most of their potential. You’ll have significant experience managing other people managers [this could look like having a few direct reports with a larger team of 6 plus]. An extensive track record of writing and editing high-quality content, boosting user engagement and organic traffic for English-speaking markets. Proven experience as a process builder you’ll have set up new guidelines, processes to help drive team performance. Ideally using AI and automation to ship quality content at velocity. Demonstrable experience of using SEO tools [like SEMRush, AHREFS] and Content Performance tools [like G4A] to boost user engagement and organic traffic. Full ownership of content quality across your markets. Mentoring, nurturing and coaching your team to drive their performance, ensuring they deliver at pace and to standard. KPI tracking and accountability, embedding metrics into daily work. Operational excellence in task planning, commitments, and OKRs. Workflow optimisations, including BAU streams, AI opportunities, and content freshness strategies. Work closely with our Content Managers to ensure Best In Class content is shipped, this could be through developing SEO guides, aligning best practices or getting hands-on to suggest improvements.
